What difference can I make?
As a charity, Vale House is non-profit-making and receives no direct grant from any public authority. The fees for most residents are supported wholly or in part by public funding from health and social services directorates, while some are self-funded through their own or their families’ private means. There is no other regular income and all other expenses for improving the fabric and facilities or providing extra benefits for the residents must be covered through fundraising, donations, legacies and similar means.
Whatever you can donate, it will be much appreciated. It can help brighten their day or enable us to bring in some specialist help.
As examples, funding for the specialised equipment that we need includes
- £20 to give one resident a hydrotherapy bath
- £50 per month to maintain the hydrotherapy bath
- £1,000 for a specialised chair
- £2,000 for a new bed
- £5,000 for a hoist to move a resident who can no longer stand
Ways to make a donation
Just Giving
You can make a donation through this national website. Just enter Vale House in the search box and you will go through to our page, and you will also see other donors here. You can even add a picture, if you like to!
When making a donation you have the option to include Gift Aid which allows us to reclaim the tax you have paid on your donation. This increases your gift to us by 25p in the pound at no extra cost to you.
Easyfundraising
Support Vale House for free when shopping online with over 2,000 popular retailers, including Argos, M&S, John Lewis, Debenhams, HMV, Vodafone, Dell, The Body Shop, PLAY.com, Interflora, Comet and many more. All you do is access the retailer’s website through easyfundraising.
Why do retailers support our fundraising?
It seems very generous, but when you buy online the cost to the retailer is much lower. As there’s no shop, salesperson, heating, electricity, rates, not even the cost of the bag to put your goods in, retailers are more than happy to help good causes when new online customers are introduced to them via the easyfundraising website. Please note that Vale House will receive 100% of the donation, eg the donation rate for M&S is 5% of all spend, so Vale House will receive 5p for every £1 spent.
Will I pay anything extra?
No. You pay the same prices exactly as if you visited each retailer’s website directly. Using easyfundraising will not cost you a penny more than you would pay normally.
How much can I raise?
Up to 15% of every purchase is donated, depending on which retailer you select and what you buy. The exact donation that will be paid is displayed directly next to each retailer listing.
By cheque
If you wish to make a donation by cheque it should be made payable to Vale House and sent to Vale House, Sandford Road, Sandford-on-Thames, Littlemore, Oxford OX4 4XL

By Standing Order
A regular donation by standing order is particularly helpful. Knowing that a certain level of support can be relied upon helps us with our financial planning. If your circumstances change and you need to cancel the standing order at any time, all you have to do is instruct your bank to cease payment. A standing order to us is just a pledge to help while you can.
